This journey takes you from the ancient city of Osh across the walnut forests and alpine lakes of Sary-Chelek Biosphere Reserve to the vast mountain valleys of central Kyrgyzstan. You will hike through pristine landscapes, stay in cozy guesthouses, and experience authentic nomadic traditions in Kochkor and along the shores of Issyk-Kul.
The route continues through the dramatic red rocks of Jeti-Oguz Gorge and the cultural crossroads of Karakol before offering relaxation on the beaches of Issyk-Kul. Your adventure concludes in Bishkek, blending wild mountain scenery, living traditions, and the diverse landscapes of Kyrgyzstan into one unforgettable experience.
Day 1
Osh – Laglan canyons (140 km)
Arrival in Osh — one of the oldest cities in Central Asia, often called the “southern capital” of the country. After transfer to the hotel and short rest, begin your exploration of this historic region.
Visit the scenic Laglan Canyons for a picnic surrounded by dramatic rock formations and wide-open landscapes.
Later, guided visit to the sacred Sulaiman-Too, a UNESCO-listed mountain rising above the city. Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views over the Fergana Valley and learn about its spiritual and historical significance.
Return to the hotel for rest.
Day 2
Osh – Uzgen – Arkyt (320 km)
After breakfast, drive to Uzgen to explore its medieval architectural complex. Visit the famous Karakhanid-era mausoleums and ancient minaret — important monuments of Central Asian Islamic architecture.
Continue toward Arkyt village, gateway to the spectacular Sary-Chelek Biosphere Reserve. This protected area is a true natural oasis in the heart of the Tian Shan Mountains, known for its diverse flora, walnut forests, and pristine lakes.
Picnic en route with scenic photo stops. Dinner and overnight in a cozy riverside guesthouse.
Day 3-4 Trekking in Sary-Chelek Biosphere Reserve
Hike along forest trails to Lake Iri-Kol and ascend to a panoramic viewpoint (2,200 m) overlooking five of the reserve’s lakes. Picnic in nature surrounded by alpine scenery. Return to guesthouse.
Visit the main Lake Sary-Chelek. On the way, see picturesque Kyla-Kul Lake, part of the chain of mountain lakes fed by Sary-Chelek. Walk through fragrant coniferous forests and enjoy peaceful views of emerald waters. Return to Arkyt.
Day 5
Arkyt – Chychkan Gorge (295 km)
Morning departure from Arkyt toward Chychkan Gorge, a lush valley known for its green meadows and river landscapes.
Arrival, accommodation at a guesthouse, and time to relax in a tranquil mountain setting.
Day 6
Chychkan – Kochkor – Naryn (340 km)
Travel to Kochkor, a center of traditional Kyrgyz handicrafts. Attend a master class on making felt carpets (Shyrdak) and visit a local handicraft workshop.
Dinner with a local family, where you will taste authentic Kyrgyz cuisine and experience warm hospitality.
Continue toward Naryn region for overnight stay.
Day 7
Kochkor – Tamga (250 km)
Visit Kyzyl-Tuu village for a traditional yurt-building demonstration, learning how nomadic dwellings are assembled.
Continue to Bokonbaevo for an impressive eagle hunting show — an ancient Kyrgyz tradition.
Explore Skazka Canyon (Fairy Tale Canyon) with a short hike among its colorful rock formations.
Dinner and overnight in a traditional yurt camp on the southern shore of Issyk-Kul.
Day 8
Tamga – Barskoon (210 km)
Excursion to Barskoon Gorge, famous for its waterfalls and alpine landscapes. Hike to the waterfalls and enjoy a picnic in nature.
Return to the yurt camp for relaxation by the lake and beach leisure.
Day 9
Tamga – Karakol (80km)
Drive along the scenic shore of Issyk-Kul to Karakol.
Visit Jeti-Oguz Gorge and hike to the “Maiden’s Tears” waterfall (weather permitting).
In Karakol, visit the Przhevalsky Museum dedicated to the Russian explorer Nikolai Przhevalsky. City tour and optional visit to hot springs. Dinner with a local Dungan family to experience their unique cuisine.
Day 10
Karakol – Cholpon-Ata (146 km)
Morning drive to Cholpon-Ata.
Visit Kyrchyn Jailoo — the venue of the World Nomad Games — and descend through Grigoryevskoe Gorge to the lakeshore. Beach time and relaxation.
Day 11-12
Cholpon-Ata
Visit the Cholpon-Ata Petroglyph Museum (Open-Air Museum of Petroglyphs).
Boat trip on Lake Issyk-Kul and free time for beach relaxation, swimming, and enjoying resort facilities.
Day 13
Cholpon-Ata - Bishkek
Transfer to Bishkek.
City tour of the capital: main squares, monuments, parks, and introduction to modern Kyrgyz life. Overnight at hotel.
Day 14
Bishkek
Breakfast at the hotel.
Transfer to Manas International Airport for departure.
End of an unforgettable 14-day journey through Kyrgyzstan’s mountains, lakes, history, and nomadic culture.
